What is a Book Club Set?
A Book Club Set is a bag with 10 copies of the same title in it that may be signed out to a designated member of a Book Club. Teen Book Club Sets may be signed out by teachers for extra-curricular purposes, such as lunch-hour or after-school book clubs. For the time being, the sets are not meant for classroom purposes.
How to find what book club sets we have:
Complete lists of current Teen Book Club Set titles for adults and teens are available on our website. You can also search in our catalogue by typing "book club set" in a keyword search to see a list of all our Book Club Set titles (children's, teen, and adult).
How to borrow them:
One person in the book group needs to apply for a special book club card
and take responsibility for the book club set. You will need personal address
ID (such as a driver's license) to get a membership.
If you are under 16, you will need a parent to be present and provide identification.
Fill in the online form once you decide on the title you would like; or speak with a staff person who will help you fill in the form.
The book club sets are kept at the Central branch and we can send them out to any KFPL branch. The sets of books have a six-week loan period (no renewals), and your club can have two sets out at one time.
Information for the book club leader:
Each bag contains 10 copies of the title, an information package with book reviews, biographical information, and (usually) discussion questions. They also include a sign-up sheet for the leader to keep track of who has which book, and a feedback form. We invite you to fill in that form and return it when you return the bag of books so that we can improve this service.
How to return them:
You can return the book club set to any KFPL branch. The entire set must be returned together (10 books, the information folder and the bag.) They must be returned at a circulation desk, not through the book drop.
Late charges are $2 per set per day. Regular lost book charges apply.
