The Library lends passes to local conservation areas and museums located in Kingston, Frontenac, Ottawa and Toronto.

Passes can be borrowed for one week and must be reserved through the library catalogue.

Ontario Parks backpacks and passes

Ontario Parks provides annual passes for loan year-round, valid at any park in Ontario for day-use access.

Borrow a customized backpack or a park permit on its own. Backpacks include a pass, as well as resource books to help you explore the plants, birds and animals you encounter on your adventures. Explore individual parks for operating dates, usage (day use, camping, etc.) and general information.

Book your park daily vehicle permit in advance.

Conservation areas backpacks and passes

Customized backpacks, offered in partnership with the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, include a day pass to Gould Lake and Little Cataraqui Creek, along with binoculars and field guides to help you get the most out of your visit.

Customized backpacks are also available in partnership with the Rideau Trail Association. The customized backpacks contain laminated trail maps, helpful tips for a safe hike and field guides to help identify the birds and animal tracks you discover along the way.  

In partnership with Watershed Canada, Nature Discovery Backpacks are pond-life themed and include a water quality test kit, magnifying glass, aquarium net, collection jars, a pond life guide, pocket microscope, Let’s Roll Pond Rollers, multilingual field resources (English/ Ojibwe/ Mohawk/ Cree), binoculars as well as a park pass to Rock Dunder Nature Reserve or a Rideau Valley Conservation Authority site.

Museum Passes in Kingston

Museum Passes in Ottawa

  • The Canadian Museum of Nature offers a single pass that will admit a family group of five (maximum of three adults per group).
  • The National Gallery of Canada offers a single pass that will admit a family group of two adults and three youth (children under 12 are always free).
  • The Canadian Museum of History and The Canadian War Museum offer a single pass that will admit a family of five (maximum of two adults per group).
  • The Ingenium brings the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum together in a single pass that provides free admission for two adults and four children.  Pass holders must make a reservation with the museum at least 48 hours before their visit.

The Royal Ontario Museum offers a single pass that will admit up to four visitors.
