Review by BRYON DALE MCCONNELL
I very much enjoyed this film, laughing heartily throughout. The fact that it is Canadian made it wonderfully relatable.

I very much enjoyed this film, laughing heartily throughout. The fact that it is Canadian made it wonderfully relatable.
Funny, quirky, distinctly Canadian, this story couldn't take place anywhere but Canada. Five anglos (one of them a New Yorker) come to St-Isidore-du-Coeur-de-Jesus to live with Quebec families and learn French. Funny whether or not you are Canadian; funnier if you are.

Summary | "A contemporary comedy about five Anglo-Canadians - actually four Anglos and a New Yorker - who find themselves in a two-week total immersion French program in a remote town in Northern Quebec. The place is perfect for total immersion, since according to the most recent census the population is 97% Quebecois "pure laine," unilingually French, and fervently nationalist. No one is quite sure who or what the remaining 3% is"--from www.imdb.com. |
