Review by Poppy Mae Bee
If you like modern musicals like Once, Begin Again and La La Land, this a film to enjoy. Personally I just loved this film, a small contemporary, leaving the nest story.
It is the last summer of a single father and daughter before she is about to go across continent to university. The acting, music and story are all excellent without cliches, I enjoy how the script takes for granted many of the politically correct flag waving themes the big movie studios are so proud of producing now that they are profitable. An example: the fact that the daughter is lesbian is just information, not a trauma or tribulation.
So many movies are exhausting these days, This is a sweet, loving, realistic story which left me grateful and full of hope. The music is wonderful and Kiersey Clemons who plays the daughter has an incredible voice.
