Review by STEPHANIE WEILER
I chose this book because the reviews were popular - greater than 4 stars in most places. I would give it a 1 or 2 stars. I think the author was trying to create relatable characters but she failed in making them likable. For people to be with flaws and still likable, they need redeeming qualities but these characters did not have redeeming qualities. The relationships were dysfunctional with broken and deceptive communication. Each of the main characters seemed to live joyless existences. The reviews I read mentioned that the book is laugh out loud funny but I did not find any humour in the book. There is no humour in someone else's misery. The ending left me angry and disappointed in the human race. The ending also seemed hurried and unresolved. The book might have had more potential if it started at the end and told the story of what happened after that.
