Historical film about a woman painter (Jessica Chastain) who travels to the Dakota territory with the goal to paint chief Sitting Bull. While she is not really prepared for what she encounters, she never gives up and eventually meets Sitting Bull.
The film is good but not great. The rendering of the time period is not always accurate but the evolution of the relationship between painter and subject is interesting. We also get to learn what the US really did to these Indian tribes in the early 20th century, which is not pretty but needed to be told.
