Review by Poppy Mae Bee
It boggles my mind that Swiss women could not vote until 1971. Married women needed their husband's written permission to work outside the home or to withdraw money from the bank, no matter whose money it originally was.
Film takes place In a small village where the women slowly come together as a force to be reckoned with, as the time gets closer to amend the rights of women in elections. Of course it is the men who votes on this amendment.
Well acted and so interesting. Easy to forget that in some countries women still do not have a say in their own lives, even in the States Ruth Ginsberg among others, are still working to amend laws that do not include the rights of women only since 1970's.
This would be a good double bill with either the film The Basis of Sex or the documentary about R. Ginsberg. Enjoy.
