The Volunteer Program at Kingston Frontenac Public Library creates opportunities for individuals to support the Library without receiving any financial compensation. 

Volunteers supplement the work of paid staff by participating in the Teen Advisory Group, Teen Review Board and New Adult Advisory Board and driving for Home Library Service. 

Eligibility and Requirements

Volunteers must be 14 or older and must have a library card.  

Volunteers to provide an up-to-date Criminal Record Check (for the Vulnerable sector) if they are 18 or older dated within 90 days per the Criminal Record Check Policy. The Library will refund the cost of the Criminal Record Check (CRC).  

The Teen Review Board does not require a CRC. 

Volunteer Opportunities

Help the Library by volunteering in a few programs run by the KFPL. Participate in this rewarding experience and assist others in your community.  

The Teen Reading Buddies program nurtures the developing literacy skills of young readers. Teen volunteers and library staff collaborate to provide reading support and fun literacy activities for developing readers in Grades 1 through 3.

TRB members write reviews of KFPL books, movies, video games and music from home. There are no meetings and no scheduled hours.

NAAB is a volunteer opportunity for youth ages 18-30. As a NAAB member, you will: 

  • plan and promote programs for new adults 
  • participate in community events 
  • recommend books, magazines, music, DVDs, and other materials for KFPL to purchase 
  • assist staff in developing a Summer Reading Challenge for adults

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer-led charitable organization that raises funds to enhance services, materials and equipment not provided by public funding.

Volunteer opportunities with the Friends of the Library. 

Volunteer drivers help staff with Home Delivery Service by delivering library materials to housebound patrons who have been approved for Home Library services and return materials from previous deliveries to the Library.

There are no current driver volunteer positions available.
