Enjoyment of a film is greatly enhanced when dialogue is clearly audible, which, in this case, it is not. The purpose of making a film is to tell a story, much of which relies on actors understanding that compromising an interpretation of a character might be necessary in order for the story to be properly told. Whispering and muttering are not good ways to deliver dialogue.
