In season one of Call the Midwife we're introduced to a lovable cast of characters, but also faced with some rather shocking realities of what it was like for women and midwives after WWII. If queasy at the sight of blood, this is not recommended, as it does graphically depict childbirth. However, it does offer a unique story-line and glimpse into the relationships that exist between women. I highly recommend it for everyone, although not young children. However, older teens, adults both young and old, mother's or daughters will find the show incredibly moving as it captures the issues women face across the barriers of time.
