Review by JENNY MAYO-SMITH
The Bane Chronicles a gorgeous recount of the events in the life of Magnus Bane, a popular character from Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series. Each short story start off with a manga illustrated page, high lighting an important section of the story. The shorts are placed in chronological order, with most of them in the Victorian era, like Cassandra's other work, The Infernal devices trilogy. Farther along in the book we move closer and closer to modern day, where we get a few juicy stories about Magnus and Alec's relationship, such as their first date. Readers who have not previously read The Mortal Instruments, it would be highly recommended that you start with the City of Bones. However, if your heart has already set on reading about Magnus Bane's glamorous life readers should be able to pick this book and read it with little confusion. This book is recommended for those who have read The Mortal Instruments, and to those who love a heartwarming tale full of sarcasm.
