Tough to watch at times but what a powerful film. Director writer Granik did a superb job of depicting the underworld like quality of life in the rural meth baking underbelly of America, where codes of silence and family intermix with poverty and survival. Lawrence is absolutely spectacular in her leading role and makes the film what it is: a great example of cinema.

A Hillbilly version of the Hunger Games (figuratively speaking). Realistic and well done.
