Well done update/remake!
This is a beautiful remake of the original: The rise and fall of every civilization underwent a historical period of 'evidence' burning of Inventions, technology, engineering etc, in an attempt to keep the information --- this spreading virus --- from reaching the hands of the conquering masses who were using it to exploit their common man.
What survived went into decadence and obscurity as commoners grew increasingly uneducated, less sceintific, and more supersticious --- as the last of the engineers and scientists faded into obscurity.
Books are bad and firemen's jobs is to burn them. In this dark
fictional future, people have been brain washed to accept this premise. The good guys who are trying to save books and free thinking are hunted by firemen. The chief's protege starts to question the burning of books and takes action to help the rebels.
Shannon's role is very well acted and he never looked so terrifying. The story line is formulaic in that we sort of expect what is going to happen; only the end is somewhat unexpected.
Interesting film well worth a watch.
