Powerful and very contemporary film about parents who learn, refuse to believe, resist and eventually embrace the fact that their only son is non gender conforming. The film's main characters are the parents who live through this process and experience stress, conflict, and overall a difficult time while also dealing with other issues in their lives.
Very strong acting by Parsone & Danes, well supported by Octavia Spencer in the role of the pre-school institution. The characters are very well defined and the camera work makes you feel that you are in the rooms with them, making the film nicely intimate.
