As a fan of the GBBO, I was amused during the first few chapters by the story setting, and the different characters thoughts and internal agendas. The author certainly has incorporated baking lingo and script distinctive to the TV series.
However, the quality of this book nose dives at the chapter concentrating too much on the bimbo contestant and her romantic endeavor. And why add the other contestants rape experience? This inclusion is inappropriate and further unhinges the plot.
Having a dead body suddenly appear so close to the end, IMO, does not warrant categorizing this novel as a murder mystery.
Elm Creek Quilters meets Midsomer Murders.
