The weight of everything

After her mom's death six months ago--and her dad falling apart--seventeen-year-old Sarah had to leave her fine arts boarding school to take care of her dad and her little brother. She's trying to hold everything together at home while adjusting to the local public high school. Her dad's drinking means Sarah struggles to make sure bills are paid, that her brother is fed and safe. She has no time for art--or her friends, especially classmate David. When a school project prompts Sara to delve into her mom's Mexican and Guatemalan roots, she stumbles on a long-buried piece of history that mattered to her mom--and starts to face her own grief.
