Summary | February, 1994. World War III is raging across the globe, and nowhere more fiercely than off the North Cape of embattled Norway. Here, in the deep of winter near the top of the world, a band of evacuees aboard the Royal Norwegian Coast Guard frigate Nordkapp must battle the unforgiving Arctic environment, the Soviet invaders, and each other, as they risk everything to survive. Amanda Jespersen, a young but tough-as-nails coast guard officer, thrust unexpectedly into the crucible of command, must learn to lead in a difficult situation as she balances her duties to her crew, her passengers, and to her endangered country. Knut Pedersen, an old and trusted local politician from the High North, must set himself against the callousness of military necessity to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of his neighbours and friends. In the end, for both of them, every decision could mean the difference between life and death for their beleaguered shipmates aboard the Nordkapp. The Nordkapp Affair is a novella set in the alternate history world of Northern Fury, a timeline in which the Soviet Union did not collapse but instead survived into the 1990s, precipitating a titanic clash between the USSR and NATO in 1994. |
