Review by Poppy Mae Bee
Sometimes I think critics don't understand the essence of the film they are criticizing - it got such mediocre reviews. This is a lovely, moving film about seniors who are forced to leave the familiar world of Britain and embrace the exotic world of India for economic reasons. It is how they cope and for some blossom that makes this film so engaging. The only false note is Dev Patel's hotel manager, which at first feels like a caricature but later manages to redeem himself somewhat. Judy Dench gives as subtle performance, as do Bill Nighy et. al. Enjoy viewing with perhaps some Butter Chicken and Naan.
