Review by Poppy Mae Bee
By the same director/writer of Fill the Void. Some spill over of theme but interesting and a peek into the Orthodox Jewish community in Israel ( not as ultra as her first movie mentioned above). Entertaining and strange for those of us not involved in that world. A good double bill or if you really want to DVD binge try Arranged,;, about two orthodox girl friends, one Jewish, one Muslim on the verge of their arranged marriages in New York City. Love that movie - so good spirited and changed some of my biased and arrogant perceptions about what I thought was oppressive way of love matching .
If you want to see the other side - to add bitter with the sweet, watch; GETT, the trial of Vivianne Ansalem, about a secular woman seeking a divorce in Israel and the horror of an injust system. Perhaps see the fairytales one day and the this one with the Stoning of Soroya M for another day.
