Review by LINDA DIANE *MACDONALD
I thoroughly enjoyed this Biography. Eyman not only explains each movie Grant made, but elaborates on the personalities involved -- for example, co-stars, producers, directors, writers -- which added substantially to the flavour of the book. Grant's parents and family dynamics are gone into in depth, thus giving reason to the idiosyncrasies in adulthood. His work history and ethic is fascinating, as is his steadfast belief in LSD as opening him up to change. When it comes to his marriages, Grant accepts full responsibility for each demise, asserting that his final marriage brought him true happiness. His adoration for his daughter, although more than a bit over the top, is sadly beautiful. The push-pull between Archie and Cary is eye opening, as is his heterosexual versus homosexual conflict. I highly recommend both the book and its Author. Well done!
