If this were not a documentary I would swear it is science fiction. How is this possible? The movie exams through news reels, interviews and re-enactment the small number of Jewish people living in Germany, who chose to hide in plain sight during WWII.
From what I could glean, it was mostly the very young teenagers/adults who managed to find a way to survive with help of others.
One of the most important points of the film is that no one can do this alone, there were non Jewish people who assisted, and hid these fugitives risking life and freedom. These people are true earth angels.
Of the approx. 7,000 who tried to hide, it is guessed that only 1,700 managed to live, and then thrive after the war. As dismal is the percentage it is still a miracle that one survived this daunting risk.
Very well done.
