Red Dress Day
On May 5, we recognize Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ Peoples. This day, inspired by the REDress Project by artist Jaime Black, honours those who have been lost to gender-based violence and brings attention to the ongoing MMIWG2S+ crisis in Canada. We invite you to explore this reading list to remember those who are missing, learn from Indigenous voices leading the call for justice, and better understand the colonial and systemic roots of this national tragedy.

Faceless Dolls Workshop
Join KFPL, Sexual Assault Centre Kingston, Kingston Native Centre and Language Nest and Kingston Interval House for a Faceless Dolls Workshop in memory of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+).
This workshop is open to all ages, though parents are advised that we will be discussing heavy topics.

Red Dress Day
May 5 marks Red Dress Day, a day dedicated to honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+) in Canada. The REDress Project, created by Métis artist Jamie Black, is a powerful art installation that features red dresses displayed in public spaces to raise awareness of the lives of those missing and murdered.
The Sexual Assault Centre Kingston and the Kingston Native Centre and Language Nest will present an installation at several KFPL branches from May 5-19, showcasing red dresses and poetry.
