On an orange background, black text reads National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Truth and Reconciliation at KFPL

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day, and the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Starting in 2021, this date commemorates survivors, those lost, and those suffering because of the residential school system. Understanding this legacy is important for reconciliation.

In our branches, staff are wearing orange shirts and we will observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. Scan an in-branch poster to learn more about colonization, truth, and reconciliation. KFPL is committed to the process of active reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and responding to calls to action. Please visit our Truth and Reconciliation website to learn more about KFPL's work.

There is a sacred fire at Confederation Park until 7 p.m. today, and a YouTube livestream of Remember Me: A National Day of Remembrance.

Learn financial literacy skills for retirement

Women are more likely to reach retirement with fewer funds, yet often need to rely on those funds for longer. Learn how much you’ll need to retire and where the income will come from in this interactive 90-minute seminar with Laura Southall, Senior Wealth Advisor at Assante Financial Management Ltd. It's happening on Zoom Tuesday, October 5 at 7 p.m., as part of our ongoing Financial Literacy for Women series.
