Reading Buddies for Seniors

Our Reading Buddies program has expanded!  Teen volunteers will be reading online to seniors, Friday afternoons from July 23 through August 27.  Listen to short excerpts from works of fiction and nonfiction, then stay online to talk about what you’ve heard.   Choose the Half-Hour program from 2 to 2:30 p.m., or the Hour-Long program from 3 to 4 p.m.  Both programs are open to individuals and to groups, whether living in a retirement residence, a long-term care home, or in the community.  Register for the Zoom link.

Game Face ON!

Are you a trivia buff, do you know a little about everything, or are you a collector of odd facts? This July take part in weekly tween trivia (ages 9-12) challenges!

A different topic of knowledge will be explored each week (fictional characters/pop culture/beyond the book) and prizes will be awarded to registered participants. All you need is paper, a pencil, and your brain! Registration is required for each individual session to receive a private Zoom link.

Reading Buddies Virtual Program

Announcing our First Reading Reading Buddies Program this Summer for Children in Grades 1-3

It's important for children to maintain their literacy skills over the summer break! KFPL’s online Reading Buddies program connects teen volunteers with young readers, newcomer youth, and seniors to facilitate one-on-one reading, mentorship, and uplifting connections. Registration is now open for our July 19-23 virtual program serving children in grades 1 to 3.
