Reflecting on the TRC’s Calls to Action: Ten Years Later – Live Webinar

Join us for a live-streamed webinar from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

The webinar will reflect on the 10 years since the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action were released—what progress has been made, what remains and the challenges that persist. A facilitated group discussion will follow the screening.

Light snacks, tea and coffee will be provided. Feel free to bring your own lunch.

KFPL Live: Make a Will Month

Learn why it's so important to have a will and Power of Attorney.  Local lawyers will go over the elements of a will, what happens when someone dies without one, what powers of attorney are, and what to consider in estate planning.  Questions will be welcome, but no legal advice will be provided. Free to adults, but seating is limited. To avoid disappointment, please register in advance online or by phone at (613) 549-8888.  Saturday, November 23, Sydenham, 2 p.m.  This talk will be repeated on Thursday, November 28, Calvin Park, 7 p.m. Both talks are identical to the one given previously on Monday, November 18, at the Isabel Turner branch.

NaNoWriMo Come Write In

NaNoWriMo 2019 at KFPL

KFPL is partnering again with Kingston NaNoWriMo to offer space for anyone taking part in the annual nation-wide challenge to write 50,000 words during National Novel Writing Month. Come meet with fellow participants and get a little work done in a fun, supportive space with WiFi, outlets and possibly snacks. Two final Monday sessions:  Monday, November 18, Calvin Park at 2 p.m. and Monday, November 25, Central at 2 p.m.  Drop in for adults and teens; no registration required.

Kingston Frontenac Public Library Appoints New Chief Librarian/CEO

After a nation-wide recruitment process, the Board of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Carter to the position of Chief Librarian/Chief Executive Officer. 

Laura’s appointment was unanimously approved by the Board of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library and she assumes her new role in December.  Monica Stewart, Chair of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library Board said, “The Board is very confident in Laura’s ability to take on this new position and looks forward to working with her.”  In addition, the Board extends its appreciation to Lester Webb, Interim Chief Librarian/CEO for his support through this transition.
