National Day of Remembrance of the Québec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia

January 29 commemorates the victims of the 2017 shooting at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Québec City and serves as the Day of Action Against Islamophobia. Take some time to look at works from authors from North America’s diverse Muslim communities. This list highlights Muslim writers' growing body of contemporary fiction and non-fiction titles discussing Islam.

Thank you to the Islamic Society of Kingston for their recommendations.

Here are the contenders for the 2023 Forest of Reading Evergreen Award

The Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading is excited to present this year’s nominees for its adult program, the Evergreen Award.

"This list will take some of our Evergreen readers outside of their comfort zone, but also help them to find those little gems they may not have found on their own. This list will also appeal to young readers who may not have read Evergreen previously." — Enid Wray & Julie Wendland, Co-Chairs, Evergreen Selection Committee

Readers can submit their votes for the award through September and the winner will be announced during Ontario Public Library Week in October.

eBooks and eAudiobooks are moving to Libby

Libby (by OverDrive) is now our eBook and eAudiobook provider! Access to cloudLibrary has ended.

From January 23-30, we're moving the eBooks and eAudiobooks that were in cloudLibrary over to Libby. The following week, any outstanding holds from cloudLibrary will be added to Libby. This process will take some time, and we appreciate your patience.

There will be some titles, including new releases, available in Libby while we transition, and you can always borrow something from Hoopla or Cantook Station!

Do you have questions about Libby? Take a look at our FAQ, register for a monthly webinar or join one of our in-person workshops hosted by KFPL staff.
