En pleine Deuxième Guerre mondiale, dans les Alpes françaises, les habitants d’un petit village vivent dans la crainte des soldats allemands. Sébastien, qui vit dans la montagne avec Angélina et qui passe ses journées à se promener avec César, se lie d’amitié avec un énorme chien blanc, qu’il nomme Belle, et qui terrorise les éleveurs de moutons des environs. Alors que les Allemands tentent de découvrir qui aide des Juifs à passer clandestinement en Suisse, les villageois, Sébastien, Belle, Angélina et le Docteur Guillaume joignent leurs efforts afin de confronter les nazis.
