Ember and the Ice Dragons

Ember and the Ice Dragons

Review by Callum, age 12

This is a fantasy book involving dragons. It’s about a dragon transformed into a young human, Ember, who must try to stop ice dragon poaching in Ant-Arctica. She recruits help from some people she meets along the way and uses sabotage to save the dragons. I liked this book because it referenced fantastical creatures. It was relatively fast-paced and the ending was unpredictable.  Anybody who liked Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland would probably like this book. If Heather Fawcett writes a second book in the series, I will definitely read it!

The Gryphon's Lair

The Gryphon's Lair

Review by Ella, age 9

This is a story about a monster hunter named Rowan.  Rowan has to bring Tiera, a gryphon, back to her home.  It is a big adventure and is not easy. I would give this book 5 stars.  I liked the characters and the adventure they went on.  I am excited for the next book in this series.

The Land of Roar

The Land of Roar

Review by Rose, age 9

You will love reading this story for its fun and adventure as you follow Arthur and Rose Trout when they return to the Land of Roar, a magical place they created when they were little, where dragons and wizards exist. Not all is fun and games because they are up against a very evil mastermind whom they have to conquer in order to save their Grandad. This book is full of imagination and beautiful illustrations to help the story come alive. There is a map of Land of Roar and wonderfully drawn dragons to help readers feel connected with characters. You will love this book and want to know what happens next in the sequel book, Return to Roar.

Maya and the Rising Dark

Maya and the Rising Dark

Review by Emily, age 9

Maya and the Rising Dark is about a girl (Maya) who, during her after-school math tutoring, sees color bleed from the world and her teacher freeze like time is frozen. When she sees wereheyenas in the alleys at night, she knows something is going on. Something OUT OF THIS WORLD.  I  really liked this book because when Maya’s papa goes missing, she has to find a way to rescue him. I also like books that have magic and this book has magic in it. Maya and her friends and her papa and other characters have magic. I don’t want to spoil who! If you like adventure, funny stuff, and friendship, then I think you will like this book too.

The Oddmire: Changeling

The Oddmire: Changeling

Review by Tommy, age 9

This book is about twins, Tinn and Cole.  One of them is a changeling but it’s a mystery until the end.  The twins go on a journey to the goblin horde to find out who is the changeling. I really liked this book. I would rate it 4.5 stars.  It was a big mystery that I couldn’t wait to see how it ended.
