Thanks for the Trouble by Tommy Wallach

An awful accident left reclusive seventeen-year-old Parker Santé unable to speak. With no friends and no plans for the future, he is stuck wandering in hotels and writing in his journal. All that changes when he meets Zelda Toth, a life-weary girl with silver hair and a mission. Parker, determined to show her that life is worth living, sets off on an adventure of self-discovery that will irrevocably alter his life. Yet, the more time he spends with the extraordinary girl, the more he realizes that Zelda has some secrets of her own that just might change everything.

A thoroughly enjoyable story that captures the teenage voice perfectly, this novel was a pleasant surprise. The unique style of writing captured the characters brilliantly, a tasty cocktail of intensity and humour. While some of the themes were entirely too predictable, the well-rounded characters made up for that in the end.

Other books similar to this one, and honestly worth the time, are A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby and How To Fall In Love by Cecilia Ahern.
