Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano

“Internment” is a floating city in the sky, and on that city you can be whatever you want. Everyone is happy but there is one rule: Do not approach the edge. If you do, then it's over.

Morgan Stockhour knows that rule very well. She knows that getting close to the edge can drive anyone insane. After all, that's what happened to her brother, Lex, and she vows never to be like him. She keeps telling herself that there is nothing on the ground. On Internment she has her family, her best friend, Pen, and her betrothed, Basil. Although, sometimes, curiosity gets the best of her and she wonders why the ground is forbidden. When a murder happens one day, the first in a generation, she begins to believe that nothing is what is seems. The people who she trusts aren't who they seem to be, and maybe the perfect city isn't so perfect. It has been keeping secrets all this time.

I loved this book because it was beautifully written and I feel like the whole story line was very intriguing and different from other science fiction and mystery books I read. There is a lot of asking what is right and what is wrong in this book, and it is very interesting to think of a perfect city where everyone is happy. This is definitely one of my favourite books. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of science fiction or mystery books.

Perfect Ruin is the first book of The Internment Chronicles, and the second and third book are also available in the library.
