The Ghost and the Goth is the first book in The Ghost and the Goth series.
Alona Dare is part of the popular crowd at high school. She’s co-captain of the cheerleading team, and she has been Homecoming Queen three years in a row. Yeah, she’s got it all. Only problem? She’s dead (slight side effect of being run over by a school bus). Now, instead of enjoying that white light that’s supposed to come for you, she’s stuck on earth as a ghost. To make matters worse, she’s starting to flicker in and out of existence, and the only person who can see her is Will Killian.
Will can see and hear ghosts, and this causes his mother and psychologist to think that he’s crazy. He’s just trying to make it out of his last year of high school alive, but now there’s this grey cloud of negative energy and vengeance that keeps following him around. Not to mention that Alona Dare won’t leave him alone either (and no, death has not improved her personality).
The Ghost and the Goth is written so that each chapter is told from either Will or Alona’s point of view. The characters are well-developed, with lots of layers, so even Alona isn’t just the typical cheerleader she appears to be. The author also has a really great, sarcastic sense of humour that makes the story and characters even more entertaining.
