In Persona 5 you are placed in the shoes of a high school student. But this isn’t just any high school student; this is a future Phantom Thief. As “Persona 5” you go through the day-to-day routine of school life. You are asked questions you don’t know the answer to, and you are harassed by everyone around you; but at night, that all changes:  you become “Joker.” As Joker, you enter the corrupt minds of others, battling with their personas, in hope of to stealing their hearts and putting an end to their corruption.

The story is accentuated by the Fusion/Punk Jazz throughout the game. The music makes you feel as if you really are that cool Robin Hood-esque thief. The red and black colour scheme and stylized game design make Persona 5 feel fresh and exhilarating.

While the game does put a lot of effort into its design and music, it does not ignore the characters. Each character feels unique and their voices fit them well. On top of that, each character has a fully fleshed-out story about him or her. While the game is highly rated and critically acclaimed, it is absurdly long and difficult for many people to complete, with the completion time averaging 110+ hours. To get everything possible, you often have to replay the game. Luckily you can play it on easy mode to glide through and listen to the story. This cuts down the playing time by a bit. Alternatively, you can play on hard mode, making the game take even longer.

In the end, Persona 5 boils down to half-school-life-simulation and half-turn-based-JRPG-dungeon-crawler. If that sounds interesting to you then the game is a must-play.
