Cassandra Clare’s City of Glass is the third book in The Mortal Instruments series.
In order to save her mother's life, Clary must go to Idris, the Shadowhunters' ancestral home. The only problem? No one can enter Idris without permission. On top of that, Clary finds out that Jace doesn't want her in Idris, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters. Aren’t they supposed to be the good guys?
In City of Glass, Valentine is getting closer to finding the third Mortal Instrument and destroying all of the Shadowhunters. Their only chance of defeating him is if the Downworlders and Shadowhunters agree to fight together . . . but they’ve hated each other since . . . well . . . forever. The the odds aren’t looking good…
City of Glass continues the story started in City of Bones and City of Ashes, set in the same detailed and amazing world that Cassandra Clare has created. The characters are all still relatable and sarcastically funny. They are well-developed, and the character relationships are explored even further in this book. It was also interesting to learn even more about the Shadowhunter world in this book. Idris, after all, is the Shadowhunter homeland, where only Shadowhunters live. If you enjoyed The Mortal Instruments and like historical fiction, then I would also recommend The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare, as it has the same amount of depth, detail and well-developed characters.
