Bowling for Columbine is a documentary written and directed by the filmmaker Michael Moore. As the documentary notes, gun violence became a nation-wide issue when it sky rocketed in The United States following the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. This film takes a deeper look into the factors that contribute to tragedies involving gun violence, as well as Americans’ love for guns.

In the film, Moore sets out to find what is at the root of America’s violence, and why it is so prevalent. He conducts interviews with a wide range of people including members of the National Rifle Association, gun owners such as the actor Charleton Heston, survivors of the Columbine shooting, licensed arms dealers, and even a teacher who witnessed a tragic school shooting.

The film is an eye-opening look at an issue that is continuing to grow year after year. Moore provides shocking facts and details about the violence that is happening in The United States. Bowling for Columbine is a very educational and time-worthy film that is appropriate for young adults and adults alike. Although its content can be hard to watch at times, Bowling for Columbine is a very impactful movie.
