Love and Luck is a love story that is set in the magical greens of Ireland. Teenage Addie, still reeling from the events causing her heartbreak with Cubby, is forced to attend a wedding in Ireland as her heart aches severely. Because of this heartache, it causes an accidental incident involving her brother Ian. In the aftermath of this incident, she and Ian must get along against their will as they fly to Italy together to visit with friends. The morning they were supposed to go on their flight to Italy, Ian ditches Addie before she wakes. Fortunately Addie catches him, and when she confronted him finds out that Ian had planned this escape in advance. Confused and angry, Addie gives in to her brother's pleas and finds herself disobeying her mother as she, her brother, and his secret friend Rowan tour all that Ireland has to offer. As they travel, Addie starts to recover and come to terms with the breakup, but she knows she has to tell her parents what really happened or else Ian might.
In my opinion, I found Love and Luck not a page-turner, but definitely worth the read. It is humorous, charming, and slightly addictive. I'd definitely recommend it to those who love a mix of love and humour and certainly to girls who have just experienced a bad breakup. The characters are effective and highly admirable. The setting itself is what caught my attention. I loved how the author, Jenna Evans, described some of Ireland's landmarks. Theme topics of this book are sibling rivalry, love, resilience and secrets.
Other books like this would be Love and Gelato by the same author, Jenna Evans Welch.
