Save the Date is the latest entertaining, humorous and good-hearted summer beach read by Morgan Matson. Following Charlie Grant, a 17-year-old girl, during all the buzz of her older sister Linnie’s wedding, this heartwarming story is one that you won’t want to put down!
Charlie’s sister is getting married. Everyone’s coming home — Linnie, Danny, J.J and maybe even Mike! One last reunion of the Grant Family before they sell the house. It all seems to be going perfectly — Charlie doesn’t have to think about change, college or what’s to come, she can just live in the moment with her family. What could possibly go wrong? First, the wedding planner quits. Then the house alarms won’t stop going off, they don’t have the groom’s tuxedo and they now have a dog for the weekend. And just to top it all off, Charlie’s love life isn’t getting any easier. And that’s before things get really crazy.
I loved this book! It was very well written, and you seemed to be running along with Charlie the whole way. Between all the disasters, special sibling moments, and the ongoing dispute about the family comic, you won’t be disappointed!
Being a standalone, it makes the story feel light and easy, with no true seriousness to it. This book makes me want to curl up outside, start reading, and not stop until I finished! All of the sibling connections, the feuds between families and the notion of not wanting change makes this book feel like it could be happening right next door to you. I just can’t say enough good things about this book!
If you like light summer reads that focus on friendships, family and lots of comedy, Morgan Matson is definitely an author you should look into. This being her fifth book, there are plenty of laughs still left for you to have with this author. If you like Save the Date, I would suggest any of Morgan Matson’s other books, as well as Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch.
Go, get it now! It won’t disappoint you!
