Welcome to the Discworld, the place where science doesn't always apply, the gods play dice games to determine fate, and Death chats mostly with wizards. In this 2 in 1 volume, we begin the story line of Rincewind, the wizard that isn't a wizard, and his journeys with Twoflower, the first ever tourist on the disc. Together, they travel across the discworld, having many encounters with Death, who seems obsessed with trying to kill Rincewind, and avoiding the real wizards trying to capture him because of the spell lodged in Rincewind's mind. The story peaks with a final battle with head wizard of the unseen university trying saving the universe.
This is a good read that I enjoyed for the comedic and odd ways Terry Pratchett's Discworld functions. The characters have a clear motivation and the plot, though it doesn't seem to have a clear direction, is exciting and enjoyable to read, and loops off nicely at the end.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys some lighter fantasy, and who likes a good laugh. If you like this book, you'll be happy to know that the Discworld series contains more than forty books, most of which are included within the library's collection. If you like this book or this series, I would recommend the Keys to the Kingdoms series by Garth Nix, as it is also a very unique series.
