This autobiography tells the heartfelt story of how Bobby Orr transformed from a poor country boy to an amazing hockey player known around North America for his amazing defensive talent. It tells the reader how Orr’s career progressed on and off the ice, and how he learned about the world away from the comforts of home.
I enjoyed the book a lot and read it in just two days. The book takes you on an emotional roller coaster as it tells secret stories of the Orr family and the traumas of Bobby’s later years. It includes lots of history of Canada and shows the reader the way that the NHL was formed from the start to the way that it is now. There is never a point in the book Orr that does not pull on you heartstrings or leave you wondering why.
I would recommend this book to almost anyone who loves to read. It incorporates so many important life lessons and history while putting an exciting twist on storytelling. This book is written in a descriptive and colourful way that really shows the personality of the author. There are no adult themes and it is okay for all audiences that would understand.
