Emily has moved once again to yet another middle of nowhere town. This time she doesn't even bother getting registered with the school and makes her timetable for her homeschool schedule. However, her mother only agrees on the condition that she take Strange Family History. Emily does so begrudgingly but soon realizes how interesting it is and soon discovers a family secret. With the last of her black rock, Emily travels back in time to uncover a family secret buried for centuries.
Emily the Strange: Dark Times is an unexpectedly good read, with intriguing drawings of Emily's travels. And with Emily's somewhat concerning lack of parental supervision, her journeys are always both amusing and creative.
