Emily Hughes and her best friend Sloane were poised to have the best summer ever when a key part of their plans abruptly disappears- Sloane. All she leaves behind is a list of 13 challenges that reserved Emily would never dream of doing, certainly not without her daring best friend. But now that Sloane is gone, the list is Emily’s last link to her, and maybe it could lead Emily to her friend.
Guided by the list, Emily’s summer takes an unexpected turn as she abandons her comfort zone and forms surprising friendships with unusual people.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable read because of Emily’s heart-touching relatability and an entertaining plot with prominent themes of risk-taking, self-discovery, and most importantly friendship.
