The Young Elites is the first book in Marie Lu’s trilogy The Young Elites.
Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever that swept through the continent a decade ago, killing most of its victims. The survivors, though, were left marked and are now named Malfettos. She’s quite a sight with her long silver hair, a scarred space where her one eye once was, and a flawless face otherwise. Some of the fever’s survivors are rumoured to have special abilities, a connection to energy the rest of us don’t possess. Though their identities are unknown, they’re named the Young Elites. Follow Adelina while she evades the tireless hunt for her blood and embarks upon her own journey of self-discovery as a young woman.
A fantastic read full of adventure, heroism and thrills, The Young Elites is well worth the time. I felt as if I was the one exploring the beautiful cities, embracing new cultures and testing out my forbidden powers with people who understood me. Adelina is one of the most complex characters I’ve ever read about, as she’s the antagonist and protagonist of the same story. Somehow you sympathize with her and at other times you hate her with a true passion. It’s truly incredible.
Marie Lu has outdone herself.
Go, read The Young Elites now!
