Paul is an average guy in what he believes is a pretty in-the-middle-of-nowhere town. His high school is pretty awesome. I mean, how many other high schools can you name that have a school-funded cheerleader motorcycle gang? What about its own posse of drag queens? Or a community so proactive it convinced the owner of the only processed fast food chain in town to convert to a vegan eatery? Paul landed the jackpot of progressive towns. Paul's life is pretty simple until Noah moves into town — Noah with his cool blue shoes, his perfectly wild messy hair, and to top it all off he's whimsical and artistic and believes in serendipity. Just as Paul is getting close with Noah his ex-boyfriend decides he wants back in the picture, and Paul's life turns very quickly from simple to complicated.
Boy Meets Boy is a quick read but doesn't leave you missing anything. From one queer youth to another it gives hope for a future where gender and sexuality don't matter and the only thing that does is love.
Written in 2003 it is the epitome of ahead of its time and what it means to be accepting.
