The boys have escaped the maze and are now safe in a dorm style building with their rescuers, but only a day later they discover their rescuers have been murdered by cranks, people who have been infected with a virus which eats at their brains making them go insane. Not to mention Teresa has gone missing. In her place is a boy named Aris who claims that there is a maze like the one the boys escaped except that it is filled with girls and he was the only boy. The boys must escape the building and survive the beyond. They must survive the Scorch Trials.

The Scorch Trials is a perfect sequel to the Maze Runner and leaves you wanting more of the characters you have grown to love.
