Sadie is ready for a boring, adventure-free summer with her best friend gone and her ex-boyfriend out of sight. What she doesn’t expect is to save a baby’s life, star in a viral video of her heroic actions and meet four other do-gooders. When Gordie, Alice, Val, and Jean decide to take the matters of the world into their own hands, Sadie’s boring summer plans change drastically. To her, the Unlikelies were very unexpected, but that’s what turns out to be so great about hem.
This book interweaves amazing messages of spreading kindness and goodness in the world with a heart-wrenching plot line of losing and gaining friends and finding people you never expected to find. Sadie is a character you will sympathize with from the start and cry along with as you realize the world is in desperate need of saving. A teen book about saving the world by little actions, The Unlikelies is definitely worth a read.
