Animal Farm had written by George Orwell at 1940s. The book imagines actually existing socialism.
In Animal Farm, the main characters are animals. The animals captured the farm from the people who exploit them. The main purpose is create a new egalitarian society. In that group pigs are the most clever ones; in a short time they created a group and they are the one who throw the revolution off the track. After that they become more relentless, more follower than humans. In the novel the main pig symbolized as Stalin. The other ones are not specific figures but we can call them the community who was living under a dictatorship.
At the beginning at the book animals are happy about their new situation. The main purpose creates a new fair layout. Every animal work as their strength, they protect the weak ones. By the time the pigs lay down new laws and became the superpower. They tell them it is for their own sake. Nothing changes for the animals which rebel for the fair layout. The pigs are the leaders and the animals are still the workers.
In the book there are lots of hidden messages and some refer to some real characters as Stalin. The book is actually teaching us how the government and community were like at Stalin’s time. At the start every animal just got to together and helped each other about everything. But by the time pigs start thinking they are better than the other animals so they started controlling the other animals. And they hide that with some lies like this for your own sake. By the time some animals just noticed they are start acting like humans and dress like humans. At the end of the book they understand what happened but it is too late understand.
In Animal Farm, the pig who gives the idea of revolution makes seven commandments for the all animals. They look like “Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings is a friend. And remember also that in fighting against man, we must not come to resemble him. Even when you have conquered him, do not adopt his vices. No animal must ever live in a house or sleep in a bed or wear clothes or drink alcohol or smoke tobacco or touch money or engage in trade. All the habits of man are evil. And, above all, no animal must ever tyrannize over his own kind. Weak or strong, clever or simple, we are all brothers. No animal must ever kill any other animal. All animals are equal.” During the time the pigs are chasing the rules by their benefits. They just fit the rules for them. Whatever the animals do, it has an effect for a pig. Like when they collect apples, they are for the pigs. When other animals are toiling hard from morning till evening in the farm, pigs assume supervisory roles dishing out orders for them to work harder. Social classes develop with the pigs becoming the ruling elite and the other animals turning into their slaves or subjects. With this unwarranted power, the pigs can do whatever they wish. However, the biggest shock to the animals comes when the pigs begin walking on two legs like humans. They changed the rule as “Four legs good, two legs better” The first rule – “Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy” is now a distant memory to the animals. Napoleon which is our main character have adopted humans ways. But the most important change with the commandments is “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” Which means some animals are superior than the others.
My favorite character is Boxer the horse. He was working the hardest he can and he never give up no matter how it hurts him. He never complained about anything or Napoleon. He was kept saying “Napoleon is always right.” He was just following the rules. The book is appeal to everyone and shows us what kind of government manages us. It indicates us past and some critical analysis from past and how the world looked like. I absolutely recommend Animal Farm by George Orwell to everyone.
