Fourth Dimension by Eric Waters

When a strange power outage affecting everything with a computer chip takes place, society collapses, and the reality of what desperate people are capable of shows. Fifteen-year-old Emma, her younger brother, and her mother escape from a city reminiscent of Toronto to a small island with a small community where they do what they can to survive and watch the outside world crumble around them.

This page turner will keep you up late reading and make you really appreciate the reading light you can turn off and on at will. With dystopian novels, often the authors focus on the plot and less about the character development, and unfortunately this novel isn’t a total exception. Although the main character Emma was pretty well rounded, I would have liked to read more in depth about her brother and mom. Other than that, it was a really solid novel.
