Shock is a medical thriller in a long line of amazing novels by Robin Cook. This particular book is about two girls who find themselves in need of money for school. After one finds an ad in the newspaper, the story begins as the inquisitive girls feel that something is not right. This book uses a perfect mixture of a fictional story and well-researched facts to create an amazingly captivating plot and rounded characters.
When Deborah Cochrane (alias of Georgina Marks) and Joanna Meissner (alias of Prudence Heatherly) decide to donate their eggs to a research laboratory, their lives change forever. When their curiosity gets the best of them, they decide to not only hack into the company but also to sneak themselves in as workers. However, things go wrong when they are discovered and they begin to be hunted by an invisible enemy. I would recommend this book to readers 14+ as it has some violence, language and harsh themes. I think this book would be great for people who medical thrillers and mystery novels.
This book specifically focuses on the theme of genetic engineering in the medical field. This book was written by Robin Cook who has written many medical thrillers and mysteries. A book that I would recommend would be Cell. This Robin Cook thriller is about another character seeking the truth in a seemingly corrupt society.
