Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella

After newly arriving in Hollywood, Becky Brandon and her family begin to get settled in for what’s supposed to be a short-term family getaway. For Becky however, this is a dream come true. Living in a place full of fame, celebrities, fortune and specifically fashion could not be anymore enchanting for a Shopaholic.

After being let go from her only job, Becky comes to a sudden realization - all she wants in the whole world is to become a celebrity stylist,  but will she be able to balance her family life, her relationship with her husband Luke and her best friend Suze all among being a top-tier, famous celebrity stylist? Learning to balance, family, friendship and fame is much harder than she first believed. Yes, it’s her dream, but at what cost? What will she give up to get to the top, and is fame truly worth what it’s all cracked up to be?

Personally this was not one of my favourite Sophie Kinsella novels, but as always she delivers a story full of heart and humour. It truly takes a wonderful writer to be able to make you hate the main character, because throughout the entire story I was cursing Becky for her choices. Sophie Kinsella was able to make me loathe Becky’s selfishness, to the point where I was truly invested in the outcome. Seriously, I highly suggest you go and try this novel out!
