Catherine Pinkerton does not like the King. This fact, while extremely important to her, is dismissed by her parents, the Marquess and Marchioness of Rock Turtle Cove. They want her to be a bride, and more importantly, to be a queen. Unfortunately for Catherine, the King seems to have the very same idea.
Luckily, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Jest. He shows up in her life just when she needed someone the most and does seem to be on her side … probably. Cath is not quite sure yet, but she is getting the feeling that he is supposed to be a big part of her future. She does not know why, only that he could possibly change the entire course of her life.
Then, there is her bakery dream. Cath wants to be known as the best baker in all of Hearts. Unfortunately, this has proved to be nearly impossible without a shop of her own. Nevertheless, she is fairly certain that her lack of space is only temporary.
I would recommend this amazingly well-written novel to fairytale fans and those who love books with a little Wonder(land). Similar titles are Alice Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll and Fairest: Levana’s Story by Marissa Meyer.
