“Last Shot” is a fictional story about a young man who has been drafted into the OHL and his journey through his OHL career and his fight up to professional hockey. This short novel is from the first person perspective of this up and coming rookie. It uses real life scenarios and the author's prior knowledge of the hockey world to make an exciting and realistic novel.
After Bryan is drafted in the final round of the OHL draft, he realizes that his dream of playing pro hockey could finally come true. As the rookie on the team and in the league, he has to fight for every second of ice time and the respect of his coaches and teammates. Will he have the strength to push through the pain and size gap to top the competition and score his spot on the roster?
I would recommend this book to readers 12+ as it does not contain any harsh themes or language. I think that this book would be great for those who like hockey and like a story of a character grinding their way through life to get to their goals.
This book was written by David Skuy who has written many sports novels and mainly hockey novels. A book that I would recommend would be Rocket Blues. This novel is written by the same author and is the prequel to this book.
